National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) – this acronym deserves your attention. This is about the concrete national energy and climate pathways to a safe and better present and future for us all. Or in other words: how do we improve our lives and keep us safe from climate impacts. Spoiler alert: change it’s on its way.
Once again please?
All European governments will put forward, between June 2023 and June 2024, their concrete climate and energy plans for the period until 2030. They will plan to deeply transform the way we produce and consume energy. This is where the European energy and climate targets and obligations get concrete on the ground. Ação é a palavra-chave.

A quick refresher
We must keep the global temperature increase to 1.5° to avoid dangerous climate change (the climate horror stories: floods, droughts, fires that Europe experiences too).
For this to happen, Europe has to contribute its fair share to the global effort which represents nothing less than 65% emissions cuts by 2030 (wink to the Paris Agreement). We get seven years to do that. Clima é a palavra -chave.

Because these plans will improve the way we travel, the way we produce and consume goods, the quality of the houses we’ll be living in, and even the quality of the air we breathe. (and you know, that high energy bill of this winter).

Limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C to avoid the worst impacts of climate change is still within our reach. There are multiple pathways to get us there. Our governments must have the courage to embrace the highest plausible climate ambition.
